Welcome to New Moon Pet Ministry
My 16 year old Australian Shepherd, Poco died in November of 2007. My heart was broken for a long time and I could not seem to find comfort in anything I read or did. She had been my stability through a divorce after 20 years of marriage, numerous moves, and both my daughters moving across the country. I was devastated when she died. 2 years later (November of 2009) my young Aussie, Aruba, died in the middle of a terrible seizure.
The deaths of these two dogs, who were like best friends to me, has been the catalyst for me offering new services for pet owners. I have put together a deck of Pet Loss Comfort Cards that I hope will bring comfort to those of you who have lost beloved pets, whether it be a recent loss or a loss long ago that you still cannot get over.
I am also offering Ceremonies for Pets and the People who Love Them: Naming Ceremonies to officially welcome the new animal into your home and Memorial Services when he/she passes. I will continue to offer SoulCollage classes to honor both living pets and those who have passed, and specific grief counseling for those who need addition support. If you live in the Vancouver, WA area, please see class schedule for the SW Washington Humane Society classes as I am teaching free soulcollage classes for pet loss and traditional grief loss classes as well.
My husband, David Kelly and I are starting a Pet Sitting Business in the Portland/Vancouver area. (It may be the only time that an engineer and a social worker can work together happily!) Please call 360-696-8837 to discuss your particular needs when you are planning to be away from your pet.
I also look forward to partnering with other professionals I respect in order to be an informed resource for those looking for services related to pets that are not available through New Moon Pet Ministry.
Please check back to this page regularly as this business, based on an effort to heal my own broken heart, unfolds. If you have suggestions for services or would like to recommend people I can list on this web site, please feel free to contact me. Our pets have become an important part of the family for many of us and this connection needs to be honored. I look forward to getting to be more and more involved with my own animals (I hope to train our new Toy Aussie to be a pet therapy dog) and be connected with those of you who welcome the challenge and joy of opening your hearts to your beloved pets.
